Fujian in just 5 Words

Here is the illustrated report of our Fujian trip. Today I present some clear symptoms of blogorrhea after my 5 day internet abstinence. So we’ll try to keep it ruly and live up to my Bull Year’s resolutions. I am applying the special astringent potion: Max 5 words per picture. The rest in your imagination: 一切尽在不言中.

Every village had a church


热闹 means Hot and Noisy!

The temples were 热闹

The faithful like burning stuff

The mosque was less 热闹

    Hi bt. Yes, it was Xiamen, Gulangyu, Chongwu and Quanzhou. Actually we went all the way from Zhejiang-Wenzhou down to Xiamen so there’s pics from all over Fujian.

    It is really quite surprising to see almost every town/village you pass on the road has a church, and most of the times very large. It feels like travelling in Europe.

    I like the one of “Mac-Ken-Ji’s: Children’s playground, Grandpa’s shrine”. Interesting combination of Southern Chinese traditional culture and fast food chain. One thing for sure is that the playground is suited at the location with good Fengshui!

    I would say that your explanation to the chicken is so funny!
    and hanhan explained “maikenji” as “mailide ken caineng chidaode ji”:)See? you have such similar sence of humor.

    Hey Futing!! Thanks for leaving a message. Although I am a regular reader of the Hanhan blog, I never saw that joke.

    I’m just back from his blog and I found the original phrase in characters:
    “需要卖力地啃才能吃到的鸡”

    I will try my own translation:

    “A Chicken that can only be eaten biting with all your might”

    So I imagine the chicken was hard. Although I must say that the 辣子鸡 that we ate there was quite acceptable.

    Mmm.Any corrections?

    You are totally right and I think there is no more use of me.hehe.
    This sentence is not from his blog but a novel written by him several years ago.It said that he was having chicken in the maikenji in Huangshan and the chicken there was so hard to bite.It seems you are more lucky than him.:)
